About Jonathan
Jonathan Odogun is co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Rayonner Properties, and the partner Joshua Akowien has built the company with. He has worked in property since 2017 and in business since 2006. He leads marketing, client experience and the diligence review behind every listing the firm puts its name on.
He also runs mapmedia, a media and production business, which is where his read on this market comes from. Years of producing brand work taught him an unfashionable conclusion about Abuja real estate:
the deal is usually won or lost before anyone sets foot on the land. It is won or lost in how a listing is presented, how completely its title is documented, and how reliably the seller communicates between
the first call and completion.
At Rayonner he does not hold the camera. He supervises the people who do — an in-house media team handling photography, video, drone, design, drawings and renders — so that a serious buyer in Lagos,
London or Dallas can evaluate a property properly without guessing, and so the quality is the same on every listing rather than whatever a freelancer brought that week. On the back end he personally reviews title searches, site inspection reports, legal findings and the documentation pack before a property goes out, so nothing falls apart after payment.
He believes communication in this market is a compliance control, not a courtesy. Deals fail here less often from bad land than from silence: unanswered calls, unclear numbers, a client who learns late. His rule is that every enquiry is answered, every inspection is real, and every diligence finding is written down and shared before a client commits.
